Participation in the Aswan International Granite Sculpture Symposium had long been a dream for the artist Amira Mohamed, inspired by stories of stone, shared labor, and the dialogue between sculptors and granite. From her early years at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Assiut, she was drawn

to the symposium's atmosphere, where working alongside Egyptian and international artists with diverse techniques transforms the act of carving into a space of learning, discovery, and creative growth.

Building on a formative workshop at the Adam Henein Foundation in Harrania, she overcame the challenge of working with hard stone, which led to her selection for the Youth Workshop of the symposium's 3011, edition.

Her sculptural work, "The Sentinel," is a three-dimensional meditation on the human form, constructed through geometric clarity and architectural balance.

Drawing inspiration from ancient Egyptian sculpture, the piece evokes the monumentality of pylons and guardians, reinterpreted through a contemporary sculptural language that responds to the weight, texture, and presence of granite, as well as to the spirit of place.
