The artist Nevine Khafagy draws on memories from Mount Abu EI-Hawa in Aswan, transforming the emotions of those moments into fluid lines in her sculpture, created during her second participation in the Aswan International Symposium for Granite Sculpture. Titled "Abu El-Hawa... A Moment of Stillness," the work reflects her desire to capture a fleeting emotional state of calm and contemplation, preserving it as a lasting sculptural presence without relying on narrative or symbolic references.
Khafagy describes sculpture as a deeply personal practice through which she expresses ideas, emotions, and life experiences, using the material as a space for reflection and understanding her relationship with the world. She views her participation in the Aswan Symposium as a rich artistic and human experience, shaped by direct engagement with granite, nature, and ongoing dialogue with artistsfrom diverse backgrounds, an environment that energizes her work and extends her artistic vision while remaining true to its core
